The Art & Science of Emotional Storytelling

 

 

CNN had its largest presence to date back in March 2019 at Ad Week Europe – one of the biggest advertising and marketing industry events on the continent – participating in six sessions across the week with speakers including CNN anchors and CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) executives. This year marked the continuation of an international partnership with the Ad Week events series, established by CNNIC.

 

In the opening session of the conference, CNN Europe Editor, Nina dos Santos interviewed industry luminaries Michael Roth and Anne Finucane for The CNN Conversation: The Chairman’s Desk about sustainable development, diversity and inclusion. CNN reporter on European Politics, Media & Business Hadas Gold continued with the big interviews for the week, discussing the future of news with Guardian CEO, David Pemsel, and closing the conference with a fireside chat with NewsNow CEO, Struan Bartlett.

 

CNN’s main panel on the Art and Science of Emotional Storytelling saw CNNIC Commercial Director, Pippa Scaife, speak about the importance of cause marketing and Great Big Story’s human-centric storytelling (read Pippa’s opinion piece on this here). Joining her in the discussion moderated by Hadas Gold were a cognitive neuroscientist and a senior media agency client.

 

Continuing the theme of human connections, Tini Sevak, VP Audiences and Data at CNNIC, spoke on a panel about Human Marketing, and Fiona McKinnon, General Manager, T.1 and the Pangaea Alliance gave her life lessons and career tips during The Things I Wish I Knew.

 

Another successful Ad Week Europe saw CNN leading the big conversations across the industry and CNNIC executives delivering key strategic messages to over 40,000 delegates including media buyers, clients, press and industry peers.  The London event followed CNN’s presence at the first Ad Week Latin America in Mexico City and we look forward to continuing our partnership across events in Sydney and Johannesburg later this year.
